She also has a grilling book hot off the presses, and another on the way.
The first cookbook title is Mastering The Grill – The Owner's Manual For Outdoor Cooking published by Chronicle Books in San Francisco.
The book is targeted toward men knowing men like to play with fire and manage the grill. It's a man's domain. It's organized like an owner's manual to make it comfortable for guys to work with unlike more traditional cookbooks. The focus of the book is the science behind grilling. "We aim to explain how grilling works, how to make grills work better, and how to use simple flavoring and cooking techniques to cook delicious grilled foods."
"If you have ever sacrificed a rack of ribs to the incendiary powers of a backyard grill, or tried to convince yourself that 'black and crusty' is exactly how you like your chicken, then you know firsthand the ambiguous art of cooking over an open flame."
There are the usual suspects like:
Molasses-Brined Pork Chops with Roasted Corn Salsa
and
Tuscan Roasted Chicken Stuffed With Fragrant Greens
Tuscan Roasted Chicken Stuffed With Fragrant Greens
But then there are the more unusual like:
Scotch Steaks In The Coals With Stilton Butter
Alison told us how the image of the coals that starts out this post were shot and lit at her indoor studio... and things did get a bit smoky and somewhat out of control at one point. She only warned us that the fire extinguisher definitely came in handy :)Beautiful shot and totally worth it. I'm tempted to fire up the grill and play with a little fire myself right now.
