Curtis Johnson's panoramics

"I've just finished putting a couple of these together. I love this format, it is fairly unique in the photo world. Basically I like to shoot these because it simulates more of how your eyes see the world. A wide horizontal perspective. These panoramics are shot in pieces, 3-7 images are combined to create 1 final image. Often I'm capturing an entire scene that encompasses 180-300 degrees of angle of view."

"I look for interesting imagery that would lend itself to this particular format. Scenic vistas, interesting architecture, stormy weather or unique light. It's always interesting to shoot these and then get back to the studio and put these together. You have a pretty good idea of how it's going to look but until every image is combined and in front of you, it's a bit of an unknown."

"People say you just need to use a wide angle lens to shoot panoramics in one shot. That is not true, the results are very different when using the proper lens, camera and panoramic tripod head."
