On Friday Nadine Kalmes and her assistant, Candice Phrogus went to the well attended APA (Advertising Photographers of America) "Something Personal Exhibition" and Holiday party!
Here are some photos Candice took with her handy, dandy iPhone:

"The story behind the head shot of the pig is they were being raised organically by a small local farmer and very feisty, curious creatures. I had to be placed inside a portable cage, inside the pig pen to be able to shoot them. They were nibbling, poking, and generally a rowdy crew to try to get a decent shot. Although you'd never know it from the soft look on this guy smelling the apple."And recipes for:

Steve was given the OK to visit the once monthly Bingo session held by the Sisters as a fund raiser. He set up his lighting and a simple seamless background. Then the fun began! About 20 Sisters "stepped in the studio" and struck a pose. Quite the festive group!
Steve tells us that this may continue as an ongoing project as there are many more Sisters who want their picture taken. And as one told him, "Sisters LOVE to have their picture taken!"
The book is targeted toward men knowing men like to play with fire and manage the grill. It's a man's domain. It's organized like an owner's manual to make it comfortable for guys to work with unlike more traditional cookbooks. The focus of the book is the science behind grilling. "We aim to explain how grilling works, how to make grills work better, and how to use simple flavoring and cooking techniques to cook delicious grilled foods."

Alison told us how the image of the coals that starts out this post were shot and lit at her indoor studio... and things did get a bit smoky and somewhat out of control at one point. She only warned us that the fire extinguisher definitely came in handy :)

Here's Dennis enjoying himself on the job, with the kayakers gliding off in the distance:
These two are neat because you get to see the angle at which he took the image and also the actual image. The colors in these are really stunning and and make me want to go on a kayak trip!
